By 1892, at the ages of 12 and 10, Bill and Jim began guiding visitors through Banff National Park, sharing their knowledge of the area's fishing spots and scenic vistas. Their early exposure to the park's landscapes and wildlife made them adept guides, and they quickly gained a reputation for their expertise.

Brewster Entrepreneurial Expansion

Brewster Outfitting Services

In 1900, the brothers established the Brewster Trading Store in Banff, offering guiding, horse packing, and livery services. Their operations expanded to areas including Lake Louise and Field, British Columbia. In 1901, they secured an exclusive outfitting contract with the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in the Canadian Rockies region.

Brewster Transportation Innovations

By 1916, the Brewsters owned a fleet of 70 horse-drawn carriages. Anticipating the future of transportation, Jim Brewster purchased five overland motor coaches that year, introducing motorized sightseeing tours in the Rockies. This move marked the beginning of Brewster Transport, which played a significant role in regional tourism.
