View Riding Up 3 Banff National Park Gondola

The view while riding up the Banff Gondola becomes increasingly dramatic as the cabin climbs higher along the slopes of Sulphur Mountain. Shortly after departing the base station, the gondola begins rising above the forest canopy, giving riders a unique perspective looking down over dense stands of spruce and pine trees. The ground gradually drops away beneath the cabin, creating the feeling of gliding through the mountain landscape.
As the gondola continues upward, the view opens toward the Bow Valley and the surrounding peaks of Banff National Park. The town of Banff becomes visible below, appearing small within the vast valley. From this height, the Bow River can be seen winding through the valley floor, its curves cutting through forests and open areas as it flows past the townsite.
Higher up the mountain, the scenery expands in every direction. The long ridge of Mount Rundle stretches across the horizon with its layered rock formations and sharp edges, while Cascade Mountain rises prominently near the town of Banff. The gondola cabins move steadily along the cable line, suspended above the steep mountain slopes and the forest far below.
As the ride approaches the upper section of the mountain, the trees thin and the rocky terrain becomes more visible. The valley spreads out far beneath the cabin, and the surrounding mountain ranges appear even more expansive. This final part of the ascent offers one of the most impressive views of the entire ride, as the gondola glides toward the summit station high above the Bow Valley.
