It's a gem of a place for real 360 degrees view of Rocky Mountains from the top of the Gandola. Visted the Gondola at the top on 2 consecutive days and enjoyed both the times!
Walking path behind the summit gondola boarding area was also great.

The summit of Sulphur Mountain, reached by gondola, was wonderful.
The walking path behind the summit gondola boarding area was also great.
The gondola ride up the mountain takes about 10 to 15 minutes, and the views along the way are beautiful as you glide above the trees.

A Must-Do Banff Experience: Stunning Views & Flawless Logistics!
If you are planning a trip to Banff, putting the Banff Gondola at the top of your itinerary is a complete no-brainer.
Book Ahead & Take the Free Shuttle - the key to a stress-free experience is booking your tickets in advance. Not only does this secure your time slot, but it also unlocks an incredible perk: a free shuttle ride right from Banff Ave. The shuttle was incredibly convenient, saving us from dealing with limited parking or navigating traffic. We just showed our pre-purchased gondola tickets to the driver, hopped on, and were dropped off right at the base.
The Ascent & The Spectacular 360 degree Summit Views
The gondola ride up the mountain takes about 10 to 15 minutes, and the views along the way are beautiful as you glide above the trees. But nothing quite prepares you for the moment you step out onto the observation deck at the top. You get an unparalleled, 360-degree panoramic view of the entire Rocky Mountain range surrounding Banff. The perspective of the winding Bow River cutting through the valley below against the vibrant greenery is absolutely magnificent.
The Sanson Peak Boardwalk
After taking in the main deck, we spent about 20 to 30 minutes walking along the well-maintained wooden boardwalk that ridges across the mountain. There are amazing, dramatic views on both sides of the path the entire way. It is an easy, highly rewarding walk that lets you fully immerse yourself in the high-alpine environment.
Cozying Up at the Summit Cafe
After exploring outside, we headed into the summit building to relax. They have a fantastic little cafe (Castle Mountain Coffee) where we grabbed a hot cup of coffee. Sitting down with a warm cup of joe right by the cozy outdoor fireplace was the perfect way to unwind and defrost while still enjoying the mountain atmosphere.
The mountain scenery, fresh air, and beautiful surroundings made the experience unforgettable.

Our visit to the Banff Gondola was one of the highlights of our trip. My wife and I spent around 3 hours exploring and walking around Sulphur Mountain, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The mountain scenery, fresh air, and beautiful surroundings made the experience unforgettable.
The information displays about the nearby mountains were very interesting and helped us learn more about the area. We also enjoyed the short movie showing how the Banff Gondola was built - it was a great addition to the visit.
The food options were good, and the overall experience was very well organized. I would highly recommend booking tickets in advance to avoid any last-minute issues.
One thing we really appreciated was the free shuttle ride from Banff downtown to the Gondola, which made getting there very convenient.
A must-visit place when you are in Banff! Highly recommended for couples, families, and anyone who loves nature and amazing mountain views.
The Banff Gondola offers an incredible experience from start to finish.

The Banff Gondola offers an incredible experience from start to finish. The 8-minute ride up Sulphur Mountain delivers stunning, unfolding views of the town and shrinking treelines. Once at the summit, the 360-degree panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains, Banff town and Bow Valley are breathtaking-it truly feels like standing on top of a postcard. A huge bonus for families: the kids were given an awesome activity book! Completing all the tasks earned them a cool patch and sticker. It turned the whole trip into a fun, interactive adventure for them.
What we loved:
1. The scenic boardwalk walk to the Cosmic Ray Station.
2. Great photo opportunities (the photo package we bought turned out amazing with fun backgrounds.
3. Spotting local wildlife, including mountain goats and squirrels.
4. Super friendly staff and excellent facilities, including educational exhibits, gift shops, and a Starbucks.
Going on a Friday morning was a great choice-arriving at 8:40 AM meant we had our choice of parking spots. Just keep in mind that it gets busy fast; by the time we headed out at noon, parking was incredibly crowded.
We spent about three hours exploring the top. Because we had a big breakfast, we skipped the nice-looking restaurants up top to save room for later and headed straight to the hot springs right next door afterward. Overall, a wonderful, reasonably priced experience that I would highly recommend to anyone!
